A Conversation
“You are standing on my foot.”
“No, your foot is under my shoe.”
“That is the same thing.”
“It is utterly different. I placed my foot down and your foot was resolute in its determination to be in the same spot.”
“I was in the middle of a stride, on my first steps in my journey to freedom.”
“And you cannot free your foot?”
“Life your leg and my foot will be free.”
“Free yourself.”
“From what? From a trip toward the unknown where untold dangers await?”
“You sound fearful.”
“I am not fearful, I am cautious.”
“Does caution mix well with the desire for freedom?”
“What do you know of freedom when you go about trapping feet?
”
